Clarence Deng is a filmmaker whose short film and music video work has played at festivals like LA Shorts, LA Lift-Off and New Filmmakers LA, as well as on platforms like Film Shortage and Beyond the Short. As an editor and assistant editor, he’s worked for brands like Sony, Fox, Disney, Netflix, Atlantic Records, Interscope, and Walmart, as well as talents like Meagan Good.
His fairy tale grindhouse horror themed video for “Black Sheep” by psych rock band Spirit Mother has won accolades from the International Music Video Awards, and was featured on Promonews. As a filmmaker and storyteller, he enjoys exploring the dark and taboo aspects of society through a genre focused lens — to visually show what can’t be said, and to push the boundaries for what stories and narratives can do.
